Drivers door bangs around...

Hey everyone,
My drivers side door doesnt shut right. When the door is latched, it will move around about 1/8-3/16". This doesn’t become a problem till I go over rough roads. IT IS LOUD! when the door is banging around. It seems that the door latch doesn’t hold the door tight to the bump stops. I replaced the latch and it didn’t help. I actually don’t want the door to be held against the stops because if it does, the door will not be flush with the quarter panel. I had the problem fixed temporarily by placing a 1/8” thick piece of rubber in between the bump stop & the body of the car keeping the door pushed out against the latch. How can I fix this problem? Does GM make different thickness bump stops?

I kinda have the same problem with mine. The driver side door will latch but sticks out a good 1/2". I can push it to where it is flush with the quarter panel but it doesn't do that on it's own. Haven't figured out why yet.

I couldn't figure out from what you said but it is too far in, like it closes too far in?

take a big hammer and without hiting the 1/4 hit the striker. That will move it in some. Pulling the door in

I dont want to move it in. If I move it in the door will not be flush sit flush with the rest of the body panels. It sits flush when its pushed out. I guess I will have to hit up the junk yards.

And yes I replaced the striker too.

Ive got the Macs already. The reason it bangs is that the body still flexes... But there shouldnt be that play to begin with.
