Window and window motor trouble

My passenger window motor was bad, I tried the Vader fix with cleaning it and nothing (I tried that with it still installed). Well I tried to get the window to go 1/2 way down, but the motor itself was froze and I couldn't get it to move at all, PLUS the regulator and slide (located by the power lock motor) were binding up, so I unbolted everything, drilled the motor rivits and it all came out.

Now the problem is the window is off the one slide, and the regulator and motor and still attached to each other and the window. And all this is still inside the door. How hard is it to, after removing the motor and regulator, to re-align the window and get it back into the slide it is now out of??

I am not in too much of a hurry, it isn't a daily driven car (as you can read in my sig) but I would eventually like to be able to lock the car and not worry about it disappearing because I couldn't leave it alone. Any help is appreciated!!

Oh and I read the tech article and I don't want to go any futher because I am scared to mess something up.

Thanks!

pmail me. I am going out to Denny's and he is giving me a new motor for $25.00 and helping me install it. We did the other door last summer and it is probably the hardest possible repair on the car. Maybe we could go the same day and he could help you too. pmail me.

The window motor and regulator come out as one piece. Just get it off the window guides and pull it through the access hole in the door.

Yep.

Easier said than done though. Changing out the motor is a major PITA.

Make sure you replace the motor with a high quality new unit. Don't buy one of those cheap ones. This is the kind of job you don't wanna have to do very often so make sure you install a motor that will have a long life.

Also, the motor is held in with very large rivets. If you wanna use these same size rivets when you install the motor you'll have to buy a special rivet gun to do it with. But if I were you I would just use a regular nut and bolt setup, it worked for me.

Have fun.

I hope you have long skinny arms. =)
