Stupid Question

here is a somewhat random question that has always been on my mind. This is in regards to those ever so stylish pop-up lights that you see on firebird. Every single other firebird i have ever seen seems to have headlights the same color as the rest of the car. My trans am on the other hand has black headlight casings, something i have always found odd. Can somebody offer their wisdom to me please.

uhmm maybe the previous owner painted the originals black or replaced them with black ones to match that bra? maybe the motors broke on both the headlights and he got a set of black ones with working motors cheap and decided to just swap the whole headlight over rather than just replacing the worn motors? who knows, but it definately didn't come from the factory that way..

The lights on my car are definitely not painted, i can tell you that. As for the motors, it is so easy to replace the motors, maybe 5 minutes a piece, i cant imagine why someone would replace the whole mechanism. Another question about the lights, are they topped with the same material as the rest of the body? Haha I'm not complaining about this one bit, personally i think the black lights look great on my car.

probably one got dinged or broke so they replaced both since it would look tacky to have one be one color and the other be a completely different color.

BTW, link doesn't seem to work. At least not for me.

to me they look primed, no glossy finish or anything. Probably just replaced them and didn't bother getting them repainted.
