4th Gen Dash Woes...Left Over Wires, Confusion On Connectors....

ok well only 3 problems really...mostly since this is an 86 Trans Am.

1) Defrost - hook what to what? i seen on another post my 3rd gen wires are just a timer, and arent for the actual defrost and need to find a box? which i dont know where that is.

3rd gen - purple/white, blue, gray, black, pink/black

4th gen - orange, purple, black, brown

2) HVAC

Ok, i have an 86 trans am and i had non a/c, just hot and cold. They were operated with cable wires, not the colored vacuum hoses that everyone seems to have. The only thing i would like to know is where to locate the hot/cold cable to change with the 4th gen one?

3) 86 Trans Am Cluster Connectors

Top - Black
Hand Brake Indicator - Tan/White
Ground - Black
Illumination - Grey
Not Used - Dk Grey
Not Used - Black/White
Not Used - Pink/Black
Left Blinker - Blue
High Beams - Green
Right Blinker - Blue
Fuel Level - Pink
Not Used - None
SES Light - Yellow x 2
Skip Shift Indicator - Tan/Black x 2

Bottom - White
Tach - White
Ground - Black
Illumination - Gray
Choke/Security Indicator - Blue
Water Temp - Green
Not Used - None
Not Used - None
Oil Pressure - Tan
Power - Pink/Black
Not Used - None
Not Used - None
Ground - Black
Seatbelt - Yellow
Speedometer - Green/Black

I checked these twice and seems that im only having 4 problems...I have no idea where these wires go, anyone help?

1) 4- Dark Grey - some kind of illumination??
2) 5- Black/White - was told to ground this (maybe splice it into a ground wire?)
3) 6- Pink/Black - was also told its power wire, so splice it into Pink/Black on white-bottom connector?
4) 12- Brown x 2 - on 85 camaro this is for speedometer?

well the controls you have obviously use vacuum to control the doors, and has no place for a cable, sooo in all likelyhood your going to have to change your setup over to use vacuum actuators, or keep your stock controls if possible

yes, you will need to convert to an electronic/vaccume controlled HVAC heater/AC box out of a GTA or somthing
