what type of Flat Black did he use? Automotive type? or Krylon? I used Krylon a few years ago on an eclipse and a year layer it was ok. faded a bit, but not to much. My current Camaro has a 7 can Krylon flat black paintjob, but it has only had it for two weeks. so far it hasent faded on me.
im assuming you mean CLEAR coat. that really dosent do much for the UV fading paint I dont think. I think it mainly gives shine, depth, and protection to the colored base coats. Some one correct me if I am wrong.

The clear coat will help protect the color from fading. But it can only do so much.
The paint will fade sooner or later. But because it's flat black, it probably won't be very noticeable.
