T-top have different sizes?
Ok, so i finally got my ABS headliner in yesterday. I got the old one out last night and decided to remove my center consle (I think it makes it look cleaner). I got a new light for it today and started to put everything together today. I cut all the holes in the headliner I had to (seatbelt, light, and visors). I went to put it in and it doesn't fit. The space for the headliner is about an inch to two inches to long.
So we went to my buddies house, he has an '87 SE Firebird and his t-tops don't fit in my car, their too long and look like they would work with the headliner I got in. Did GM/Pontiac really make two different sizes for the t-tops for the same year? I looked a Paddock and all the headliners say 82-92 and they say that they will fit Camaro and Firebird, so I know the shop didn't screw up the make of my car. So now I'm stumped, where do I get the shorter one? I can probably make the one I got work, with a little cutting of the ABS, but I really don't want to. I can't get exact dimensions right now, my tapes at work, but I'll give them as soon as I can. I am begining to think my cars a freak.

What you have there my friend is a set of C&C t-tops, they are after market and are no longer made. The headliner is completly different also, I have a black headliner from an 86 TA, I also have the t-tops, weather stripping etc. You might want to grab these up because they are HARD to find.

What is C&C?
I saw the C&C symbol on them a while ago and thought that it just meant the glass had been replaced. By the way, this car was supposedly a show car for GM in 1987 (I got it from the original owner's son and thats what he said), going to all the shows like Detriot and the one here in Vancouver, but the build date on the door says 08/87, so they may have retagged it (who knows). I think that I can make this headliner work, I just have to notch the corners on the front side to facilitate a bend, making it close the gap. I am now really curious. What is C&C? Is it a special option or?
C&C stands for Cars & Concepts. It was a company that was doing aftermarket conversions on stuff for awhile. They did alot of aftermarket t-top installs on stuff that GM would not do.Like the first few years GM would not put t-tops on any f-body that had a 350 engine. The chassis was too weakened by the t-tops to handle the additional torque from the bigger engine and the twisting of the frame. But since the dealers had customers that wanted 350 engines and t-tops,and since GM would not do both on the same car,the dealers just sent them to C&C to have them do it anyways.GM eventually gave up and started putting t-tops on 350 cars in late 88 and 89 cars.Or at least a few of them anyways.I had a 87 GTA that had the C&C t-tops on it.They never gave me any trouble at all,but I was always nervous because the glass was alot thinner than the factory stuff and I knew if I ever broke one of them or needed seals or something I would be S.O.L...One of the reasons I sold it.

False! There are plenty of stock 87 L98 cars with factory t-tops. This discussion has been beaten to death on the history board.

Thanks for the info., all I know is that my car came stock with a carbed 305 (sorry don't know the code for it). I guess I am going to have to try to get the one I have to work, or somehow make a custom one. Hopefully an aftermarket dealer will start making parts for them by the time I need seals or new glass.
