Rear window brake light removal.

Has anyone removed the brake light from their hatch window? I'd like to remove it, but don't know what to do about the holes or the wires that run to that light. Can it be done, and if so, is it a headache?

I'd like to know as well. I hate that damn 3rd brake light - it's always in my mirror where I need to see! I liked the spoiler mounted one in my 1990 Camaro better! I'd like to swap the two so I can see the lights behind BEFORE they turn blue!

You need a new hatch.

Some people have just removed it off the 86 hatch, and put 2 of the bolts that hold the hatch to the body in the holes.

when my hatch got busted out my 3rd brake light came out no problem...lol. I'm not sure about the externaly mounted lights, but I know you can get the interior ones out. toward the top of the light on each side there is a screw, just take those out and take as much apart and out of your way as possible. then get the razor blades out and start scrapping...it is a pain in the ***. and also, the third brake light is mandatory...although most people won't notice or car...when my 91's hatch got busted out I put glass in from an early third gen camaro with no brake light. and when I went to court to prosecute the ***** that did it the judge got on me about needing a 3rd brake light since my car was factory with one.

Axle/Gears: 2:73 ... I think
All you have to do is take out the torch screws on each side of the brake light asembly and the wire cover and it comes out pice of cake

I know how to take it off, I just want to know of any ideas on what type of screws to plug the holes and such.

Did you use any type of rubber washer, to seal out any rain water?

I'd try a clear silicone.
