Salvage vs. Clear?

I know this post isn't about the body of a Camaro but idk where to post this... K well i was wondering what is the difference between a salvage title and a clear title? I heard that all a salvage title does is raise your insurance a little bit. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

salvage title mean the car was totaled at some point and rebuilt, lowers the value of the car some. no idea if it changes insurance at all.

The car doesn't have to be rebuilt to have a salvaged title, you can buy a crashed car with a salvaged title as well. You can also have a salvaged title removed from the cars record if a state inspector comes and inspects the car, if he feels the car is worthy then you get a clear title. A clear title is a car that has never been is an accident, flood, fire, etc.

Here in Louisiana the insurance would go down because you can no longer get collision insurance on a car with a salvage title. Also, I know here you can't get a clear title even after the State Police inspects. But they do have to inspect it before you can get it re-titled as a salvage.

My opinion would be to stay away from Salvage Titles if you have a choice. never know what and how its was repaired even if it was inspected.

Well it would probably be one of those junkyard camaros in good shape but the junkyard never got the title for it so the junkyard was issued a salvage title for the car.

I got my car with a "restored salvage" title...from what I've been told and read on here, a restored salvage is one that the state has approved as road-worthy. I've look my car up and down and found no damage to the car at all, however, Carfax reports the car as being in Georgia and having odometer rollback. My car was bought in Arizona, lived it's whole life there, suddenly wound up in Georgia with odometer rollback, then back to Arizona. My take? Was stolen at some point and the owner got it back, but had lost the title or something. But it's a great car, no damage at all.

"Salvage" cars certainly are cheaper. (no one wants to touch them: mine was blue booked at $1500 with a clean title...KBB won't price it without a clean title, I got the car for $750)

Insurance didn't seem affected at all...then again, I had flat-rate insurance at the time(To quote my agent: "I don't care if you're driving a brand new Viper or a '70s Vega, the insurance will be the same for liability.")

My Camaro is Salvaged... I looked at where it was crashed and repaired...

A perfect repair, and you can get the car so much cheaper.... Just don't tell anybody you have a salvaged car... they don't need to know that....

My car could of sold for $7K, but I got it for $3700, then down to $3100 because it needed a CAT job.... and it was salvaged...
