I bought the outer window felts, but do I have to take the whole inner door panel to replace it?

What procedure should I take..any helpful hints?

Yes, you do have to remove the door panel to relace that outer sweep. Here is a thread that might be helpful.

Do any of you have a good link to the door panel removal? The haynes book is not very discriptive. I tried pulling it off in one spot andI think I broke one of theso white clips that hold it into place. Did you guys have to replace all of your clips?

 

The lower panel is easy. I strongly suggest that you go to NAPA or some other such store and buy a door panel removal tool that will allow you to pry the clips out of the door without mangling them or the door panel. Much better than a screwdriver or brute force, pulling on the panel.

The top plastic trim cap is tricky. Put the window all the way down. You then need to squeeze the black plastic trim while pulling up on it at the same time, starting at one corner. Might help to squeeze, push down, then pull up. It's hard to explain, and even knowing how to do it I still find them to be a major hassle and sometimes they break.

 

Do you have to take off the panel or hte plastic piece off first?

 

The plastic piece and the door panel come as a single piece.
