Just picked up a hatch from the Bone yard has the rear defroster.Also has the rear spoiler with 3rd eye.My 90 had a 3rd eye spoiler but prev owner tried a non eye much narrower spoiler instead.Hate it and want the eye back so picked this up.Also in TN it gets icy as back in Maine or CT so i want the defroster option.And as chevy is so wonderful they actually have the marority of the wireing in the harness already just never been tapped.So I picked up the switch and panel cover as well as the hatch and spoiler.For all this i paid about 60.00 after tax.While doin the install plan to also add the pull down cargo area cover mounts so I can install the one I got recently.I have to remove the back panels anyways to see if the wires are run back to the hatch area for the defroster or if it's just the wires and connectors in the dash that are in the car.Either way just having the original stock connections for the switch with power already running to them is soooooooooooooooo nice.Thats alot less to have to mess with.
Did think of grabbin a white hatch with the 3rd eye in the glass up top thus giving the car 3 sets of brake lights but decided not to bother.Besides this ones red so will look better till i get the car repainted anyways.

 

OK defogger hatch on needs realighning a bit but wanna wait for warm weather because the sealant is hard now and new sealant will be slow to mold and cure in the cold.But hav found that the hookups do not run all the way back to hatch.Will have to find/follow the hot wire from defogger to dash and add this.But switch lights up and seems to function wltho it doesn't run all the way back to the hatch.No worries can do.Looks good havin the right spoiler on car too.Brake light needs bulbs tho.(auto zone here i come.)
The remote hatch release was all there except for the switch and relay and solinoid at the release itself.1 run to bone yard and have switch solinoid and relay all installed to factory wires which were all in place but not used.Remote release works fine.Could even potentially upon review use any switch for this function since it just triggers the relay for the solinoid.Haven't installed the center console cover for this feature yet so may use another switch still.(just sticking up out the cover right now hanging there lookin like crap.)
So whats left???Replace bulbs.Realighn hatch so looks better and doesn't bind at all.And run a factory hot wire back to the defogger.Ok simple enuff will plan ta tackle this weekend.

Hmmnn wonder what else can add thats laying dormant in the R/S???
Maybe i'll check into the 4th gen stereo sys(bose)or into another denali with sub and amp setup like i added to my 04 Blazer??Someone grab the fire extinguishers I'm at it again.l
