by original and interior perfect how many miles are on the car? v6 models are not worth much at all as you can get perfect looking 50k mileage v6 cars for 3-4k which can be considered a deal when a new paint job is that much. not to mention the wear on the rest of the car. everything is only worth what you will pay but if color is coming off on the paint it sounds like the clear is thinning and you won't have much life left in the paint.

expect a repaint in your future with that car which easily puts you at 2k+ down the road. so... save a bit now on the price or save your money and buy a nicer car with less maintenance. thirdgens for the time being can be had very reasonably in good shape with good mileage. anything under 2k can be expected to be worked on in the near future and parts add up quickly.

just to give you a heads up i personally buy v6 cars as parts cars and only pay 500 for them. this doesn't mean anything other then the fact that the same model in a v8 would cost me double.

something to think about..

good luck.

ahhh, if you see red commin of the car, there is no clearcoat on the car, at all, 0 clear.

its either a single stage painjob which wasnt factory from gm, or its a two stage that lost teh clear, since you siad he biffed a spot and it shines, its a single stage most likelly, cars been rapainted, aint worth the money could be a bondo bucket....

If there's a question of body work, a magnet test would reveal whether it's been bondo'd to hell. Most common areas are the rear quarter around the wheel well, rocker panels in front and behind the doors and the door corners.
