Painting At Home: Need Help With My Product List

Im trying to make out a list of all the things im gonna need in order to paint my car at home, Its a father son project with my dad and step dad. They have left me up to getting all the equipement and needed materials(gotta Learn )

So far this is what I got from http://www.harborfreight.com/

ACTION SANDER 29.99 29.99
1 9588-4VGA 50 LB. CAPACITY ABRASIVE BLASTER 44.99 44.99
1 43430-2VGA HVLP GRAVITY FEED SPRAY GUN 64.99 64.99

1 46655-0VGA 6'', 180 GRIT PSA BACKED SANDING DISCS, 25 PC. 7.99 7.99

Subtotal 606.90

Im trying to get together everything I need to get the car into primer, I'll worry about the actual paint and bondo locally, Im mainly looking for equipement through this place. The T-Tops have some surface rust and a couple small rust holes so thats what the sand blaster is for, but im wondering if thats enough material for the blaster though. Im also taking the car to bare metal and its factory paint so what grits of DA paper do i need and how much?

Fell free to list or even tell me if i have anything i don't need or need more of,

Stuff I think I Still Need:

1.)sanding boards
2.)sand paper(what grits?)
3.)masking tape(various sizes)
4.)i think i need some type of water filter for the gun
5.)a spray mask
6.)Primers and Paints
7.)bondo and putty's?
8.)Roll of paper for masking off the car
9.)Good Set of hands
10.)Latex Gloves
11.)Lint free rags for whiping down the car before paint.
12.)wax and oil remover
13.)Good Paint and body book
14.)I need some help

I Really Need Help

I'd find a bigger compressor to start out with. The one you chose is a lil on the small side. And for that price you can get one that will do the job from cummings tools.

And that auto body site rocks. lol

The compressor is big enough to paint with, but totally insufficient
for sandblasting anything larger than 1 sq. ft. at a time, or
continuous hi-flow tools like a sander. Learn what cfm your
tool need, and what cfm your compressor provides, per stated
duty cycle. The March issue of Chevy High Performance has
several good articles about DIY painting. You're list is a good start.
The air tools are available from a wide variety of suppliers, and
you'll pretty much need to educate yourself. A good moisture
filter & regulator is a must for painting. As for the specific supplies,
look for a good supplier locally, that will spend time educating you.

And since you're starting from ground zero, allow for another 3 - 4
franklins, before you even get to the color paints.

Good luck, and keep up posted.

Change your face mask to a big box of face masks, you wont want to reuse
them
You also need the clear, clear hardener, and a bunch of small buckets
Paint strainers

Grits change for whatever you plan on doing

If your goin to bare metal Id suggest 60-800 about 3 packs of each kind
Grits below 300 you should get dry paper, 300 and up should be wet paper

Go to the tools section in Lowes, they sell water filters and something you didnt add was a pressure regulator. Roughly $80 for the both of them

The air tools youll prolly not use too much. I used a jitterbug electric and the spray gun. Food for thought, thats all

Good luck
