Third Gen Sun roof???

Went to the local junk yard today and spotted this.

There was also a Third Gen Camaro with a straight 6 in it. Were these factory options or custom work?

Looks like they did a decent job of putting it in but, I'd guess that it's an aftermarket installation. It was a popular and inexpensive kit to install in your car or truck during the 80's.

I seen an 89 Firebird with the same thing. Mind you the roof was the only piece on the car that wasn't rusted through.. And the glass was missing, too. But It would be a nice thing to have..

The few I've seen, just don't look right, to me. Something about the sunroof lines on a 3rd gen...Maybe it's just me...

I think it would be cool to, instead of a T-top, a targa top instead.

Obviuosly, you'd hafta have SFCs (at the least), if not more. Kinda like a 'vert, I guess.

You sure it wasn't an inline 4?

well i wouldnt be surprised if there was a straight six in one, ppl here in IL do some really stupid/odd things to vehicles, i have seen many retarded things done around here

i think the sun/moon roof out of a later cavalier and such would look alot cleaner, imho

where is Troy ? must be near st louis or chi-town ?

good luck

Troy is about 20 minutes from Downtown St. Louis and 15 minutes from Gateway International Raceway.

Well this past weekend i saw a sunroof camaro with the 2.5 iron duke straight 4. Kinda odd. Ive seen the sunroofs before, some company back then installed them they all look decent, not hackjob style.

I saw an 82 in the JY once with the sun roof. I think a sun roof in any third gen is just wrong.

So, what do you think are the odds of the car having SFC's? I might have to go out there again and check it out.

I'd say fairly good. It seems more likely that a car would get SFCs before a sunrooof. Unless it's a V6 car...Then no, no SFCs.
