Bumper skin differences

Hi,
Most of you have seen my thread to where I'm taking my 84 and pretty much turning it into a 92.

I'm about ready to move to the exterior, and looking at the front bumpers. To get the 91/92 GFX's I need to swap out the bumper. Looking on Ebay saw a guy selling a 87 front bumper around my area. I thought I read that the 91/92 GFX will mount up to the 85+ bumpers. Is that correct?

Also are there any other differences between the 87 and 91/92 front bumper? Looks etc? Just trying to decide if I should just bid on it, or wait and find a 91/92 (which I might do)

What's a good price on a front bumper for these cars?

Thanks!

Anyone know if there was any difference on the 85-90 rear bumpers and the 91/92 style?

Are the GFX the same on that part? or did the 91/92 have something different? I can't remember.

sorry to say...but different

here is a picture of the 85-90 style. Notice how it's "smooth" at the bottom

and here is a picture of the 91-92. Towards the bottom, it's kind of "flipped outward" the rear bumper kind of ties it all together imo..

Ah I see now.

But I could get a 85-90 rear bumper and put the 91/92 GFX on it, if I had too right?

I guess another question, is there anyway to add the 91/92 GFX to my 84 bumper? I don't think so, but thought I better make sure.

for the rear bumper, no. It's molded as a one piece design unlike the front bumper.

Since the nose has a total different design (82-84), the 85-92 ground effects won't bolt up to it. The reason I know alot about this is because I used to have an 84 Z28...and I cloned it to a 92 Z28 including the high spoiler. I tryed my best to cut curves....but was unable to, pictured below was my old 84 Z28 cloned to a 91-92 Z28.

OK, so that's new to me.

I thought there have already been members on here who have swapped out the front nose piece from older models, to the newer and it fit fine. So now I'm confused.

Do you have any other pics closer up?

What are you confused about?
If you have an 84 and you want to clone it to the 91-92 style, then you have to install the 85-92 front bumper, then install the 91-92 ground effects on that. For the sides, you have to drill new holes to mount the 91-92 style ground effects. For the rear bumper, you have to install a 91-92 style rear bumper.

Oh that's what I'm going to do.

I thought you said you tried to swap out the entire bumper and it still didn't match up. OK, I feel better now!!!

Thanks for the info on the rear bumper too. I'll make sure to get a 91/92 style bumper.
