How to attach a composite quarter panels.

Hypothetical question.

If a reproduction quarter panel was produces in a composite material what would be the best way to attach it to the rest of the car? I'm thinking it would be near impossible due to flexing of the car and that the quarter/sail panel is a strengthening part of the car.

TPI ^ is correct, panel bonding (which in some cases has proven to be just, if not stronger then welds) would be used to do this process...if you are the one doing it, make sure the panel bond is something that is capable of bonding the material to metal, as the products shown state; some bond metal to metal, plastic to plastic and so forth. you would also have to buy the two part gun which retails around 80$ or so...norton is the only i have experience with and they have very good panel bonding agents...

3m has a new bonding glue i think its 8115 not sure it has a red and black label on it.. U can bondo metal to smc, metal to metal, fiberglass to metal, ect ect. and filler will stick to it. But I think u would weaken the car up to much. And plus the outer 1/4 skin does not really weigh that much. Its all the inner metal.

Thanks for the info. It's not just the (minimal) weight saving, I like the fact that you don't have to worry about rust with the composite panels. Rust is one of these things that just irritates me.
