lubing power antenna

ok so whats the general opinion on this.. dry grahite?? the stuff that comes in a spray bomb that is propelled by alcohol seems to be the best idea I think.

the problem; my power antenna doesn't go all the way down... it stops about two inches short.

any other ideas?

Something light, like WD-40, to clean and lube.

Re: lubing power antenna

I was under the impression that a liquid/grease lubricant is something I should avoid since dust and dirt would stick to it compounding the problem.

The graphite spray uses alcohol which evaporates quickly.

I don't know what to do with it at this point, I've already replaced the antenna twice and I don't want to do it again.

Re: lubing power antenna

I just spray some WD-40 on a shop towel, clean the antenna, then reapply with a clean shop towel (wiping off any excess). Several years now and no problem.
