Remodeling/Restoration 1992 Firebird

Hi, I am redoing my car and was wondering on getting other fans of this car types opinions on what I'm doing.
First off, I'm redoing the interior because I am currently using my car to get through college and back and work and back etc like 2 hours a day, so I figured intior would be nice first.
Things I'v done already.

New headliner, and sunvisors using original grey interior.
Fixed these about a year ago and looks pretty good.

Replace stereo and speakers.
I put in a CD-7100 with GPS adapter along wth infinity kappa speakers.
Still need to get for this.
I want to put a sub in the trunk area where it dips down, I'v seen sub boxs that are customed and fit well into there, is there any link of ones made very well to this, and what kind of sub should I put into there.

Rest of interior to be done:
Replacing the carpet, sounddedener, door panels from.http://www.classicindustries.com

Replacing window and lock motors and going to install keyless entry system (for keyless entry and security) still unsure as to what unit I want to use for that as of now.

Getting custom floormats from http://www.usspeedonline.com/page/U/PROD/LM-FIREBIRD
with the firebird emblem 848026.

Redoing the seat's with leather from http://www.leatherseats.com
Will look like this http://www.leatherseats.com/images/s...ther_kit03.JPG
with custom embrodery on the driver and passener seat or firebird like on floormats.

Weatherstripping-Redoing all my weatherstripping in order to fix a few leaks on side windows and air noise. Still debating between reproduction weatherstripping and original GM weatherstripping, and or whether to install it myself or have another place do it to make sure everything right to avoide any accidents or leaks.

Replacing window tint cause water leaks have messed them up.

Doing other minor work to ake it *perfect* but no point in mentioning it since its so minor there is nothing u can really improve like a piece of cracked plastic on passengers side kick panel.

(I think thats it for interior, will update if I can think of anything else)

Exterior
What I'v done
T-tops, got brand new lexan t-tops to replace my terribly deteriorated original ones. Replaced tail lights with GTA style taillights from 91-92, the letters are faded but i ordered decal replicas but I put them on one side bad, I was wondering if there was anyone who knew where i could get more of those to fix it.

New ram air hood, and 4th generation spoiler. Most likely getting from http://www.gtfiberglass.com/ cause can buy them together and get the TBI air box which I havn't seen from any other company. What is still in debate though is whether to get the 5" or 3" hood, I think the 5" looks too high but have yet to see a 3" hood picture yet.

Replacing rear window trim do to excessive rust that looks terrible. getting that from http://www.classicindustries.com again

Getting these wheels http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/in...ROD&ProdID=480, and not sure what kinda tires I am getting as of yet. Also going to get nice looking breaks, not sure what kind, but I know I want part of it to be red or black.

New paint job, well, I know I want it red cause I like red and it is its original color, I thinking of doing red and donig black stripes going down themiddle along with the ram air hood, and painting the firebird emblems on the car black. Fix some slightely broken ground effects, and other minor things to little to mention.

Only mechanical thing I going to be worrying about at the moment will be the exahust, *since thats both performance and appearance*
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/in...OD&ProdID=1140, going with borla atm because I basically love how it looks.

(brains dead and I can't think of anything else, will update if I remember)

please tell me what you all think, improvements or answers to my questions, kinda going all out so price really doesn't matter. Mechanical will be after but at the moment I prefer a nice looking car to a fast car since its basically a road vehicle. Thx all.

Looks like your on a great track for a restoration

Ask yourself if this car is worth dumping the money into VS buying another one in alot better shape and just minor changes to it

Either way its your decision, but thats a long list for such a newer car

Ya, I already been down that road. Figured, if I got one I'd be spending atleast 250 a month for like 48 months. I can restore my car on my own time, make it all custom, (probably nicer than another car), will be expensive but worth it in the end. Overall my car isn't really bad at all, this will just be making it look really nice in the end. (And, it would be cool if I could keep my first car and then move on to another new car as a 2nd vehicle after I'm done). So, ya I think it will be worth it in the end.

that sounds like a pretty awesome project you got going there.

"Replacing rear window trim do to excessive rust that looks terrible. getting that from http://www.classicindustries.com again"

Which trim is this? Is it the metal piece that goes around the rear hatch glass? They sell that???

Ya, they sell that. If you download the firebird catalog from the website http://www.classicindustries.com/dow...adfirebird.htm and go to page 265 you will see the "1982-92" rear window glass molding which is the metal piece that surounds the rear glass trim. They also have the tools you need to remove the old trim from the car. Pretty expensive though for my car gona be like $300, but being that I'm a perfectionist it will have to get done :-D. I was looking for that part for a while through various parts pages, and other websites and places like that and this is the only place that still has a real part for this item (I had original gm ones but they are discontinued I take it since the # is unfindable from GM and parts websites) but eaither way they are still the same price.

wow that is awesome to know. By the way, in regards to the seats, if you're going to go with leather, this is just a thought you know, maybe you might want to get that trim thing. I have no idea what its called but its on the edge of the seems and is like vinyl pieces or something. If you go with a black interior, you might want to make that trim red. I saw it on a car and I think it looked pretty awesome. I think the person was redraif or something liek that. Sorry, gramamr is bad right now, I'm dead tired lol

My dad had that idea and told me to do that, but I don't know, in my head it seams a little much but it would match all the car colors. Do you have a picture of it by any chance?
