steel t-tops?

Anybody ever hear of the Glass on the t-tops being replaces with steel or fiberglass? I'm just wondering because in the wintertime it would be kinda cool to have insulation instead of glass for the roof, and it'd be a neat little modification

Re: steel t-tops?

Never heard of it. If I lived in chicago I would never drive my car in the winter. Buy yourself a 4x4. Just my 2 cents though

Re: steel t-tops?

There was a guy a year ago saying he was gonna make fiberglass replacements

Never heard another peep from him

I think its a stupid idea just for the insulation

These cars cool off really fast in the summer and heat up really fast in the winter when you keep the systems working good

Re: steel t-tops?

If you are just looking for a bit of insulation get a set of t-top panels. They go underneath the glass and are covered with the same material as the headliner.

Or you can get some lexan t tops and have them painted to match the body.

Re: steel t-tops?

I use the t top inserts in the summer and winter. I leave them out of the car in the spring and fall. I highly recomend them.

Re: steel t-tops?

Steel t-tops would be so cool simply for the fact that if you drop them they'll never break( might break you toes though)

I wish this were true. I had a NOS set of Lexan t-tops smashed in-transit. The box was old and the glue joint popped allowing the molded foam to shift leaving the t-tops to flop around unprotected. One has three huge cracks down it. The other has just small (under 1/2" chips and cracks where the metal edges are attached to the t-top.
