Removing the Hatch?

Removing the Hatch?

Ok well my hatch supports are shot, i plan on stopping at the junk yard on monday to pick up a set for $20, but i need to know what tools ill need to remove the supports? i could only find threads pertaining to removing the glass...

I can help somewhat as I have taken many hatches off.. you are just changing struts? You will need a t47 torx bit (the one to take out the seatbelts) and a 8mm socket and it should unbolt,....remember to take off the wires to the defogger grid if you have that in your back glass...

Yep he's right, just need a large torx bit, not sure of size, and I actually believe those small bolts are 7mm, not 8. But maybe different cars are different. Just take small ratchet and sockets, and torx

I got two sets out of the yard. Just so I have a set in spare. The hatch it pretty heavy so don't forget a prop-rod or a buddy (that you really trust) to hold the hatch up for you while you remove the struts. I also grab the hardware, weather you need it right then or not.

ya that thing is a beast, i always have to prop it and am scared its going to give and kill me! haha
