Hatch lock replacement

Well, the previous owner broke his key off in the door of my car, so I had to get new locks. I was trying to put the one for the hatch in, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to remove the cable assembly from the back of the lock. If you know the trick to doing this without breaking the pull-down motor(as mine actually works), I would be greatly appreciative of such a gesture.

Re: Hatch lock replacement

It's in here somewhere, just search. I had to do it before, and it was suprisingly easy after i knew how. It was like a few months ago so i cant remember the details.

Re: Hatch lock replacement

There is a molded tang that fits into a groove on the OD of the lock cylinder. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry between the lock cylinder and the ID of the off-white plastic attachent that is on the end of the cable. Once you have one side free work on the other side. Once both sides are free it will slide off the end of the lock cylinder.

Re: Hatch lock replacement

Well, whether this is the correct way or not, I just pryed on it until it came off. Probably incorrect, I in no way incourage this method unless it is true. But thanks to all.
