Need Help Before Painting

Hey guys, this may be dumb, but I have never had to deal with paint and such before.

I've got a 91' Black Vert RS. I want to get her paint fixed up (boo for GM's horrible paint). I just want black again i think. I'm thinking a nice deep-looking sparkeling black.

1- What color/brand can someone recommend?

2- What kind of questions should i be asking the body shop?

3- What price range is a fair deal? (i don't think i'm doing any prep)

4- How long should it take?

5- Anything else you guys can warn me about through experience?

(Please refer me to any other threads, i've done some searching but havn't found anything very helpfull)

Thanks for any help guys!

Re: Need Help Before Painting

where do you live?

how much body work needs to be done?

what is the condition of the current paint and how many jobs are on it already?

do you want a nice, long lasting paint job or scuff and shoot quality?

Re: Need Help Before Painting

Depending on the day, i'm either in Southern MD, Northern MD, or southern PA. lol.

The body looks nice, no rust, just looks like the hood is fading bad, and looks like somone spray painted the trunk, but didn't do a 'bad' job. but you can tell it's not original paint.

I'm not sure what kind of price difference is between crapp job, and 'long lasting' jobs. I suppose i'm not really interested in going 'all out'. I just want it to look nice, nice clear coat, maybe a metalic sparkle. Nothing fancy.

Would they have to sand it down, primer, and then paint?

here's a pic of current condition. You can see on the second pic, there is NO clearcoat on the trunk.
