how to remove side mirrors

i'm working on repainting my entire car, just yesterday i did inside the door jams and the hatch, a week ago my dad did under the hood for me, and very soon i will be getting ready to do some prep work to my car, but i want to take off the side mirrors to paint them separately, how do i get them off...when i took out my door panels to paint in there yesterday i noticed that it has screws coming in from the mirror, i was anticipating it being the other way around, they're power mirrors and i have no idea how to get these s.o.b.s off!
thanks guys

Two 10-millimeter nuts (IIRC) inside the door panel. The electrical connections (again IIRC) are inside the car, kick panel perhaps.

To get the mirror off you need to take the door panel off and roll the window down and you can get to the two nuts that hold the mirror on. The wire connector is inside the door, it only comes maybe 10" off the mirror.

thanks guys, i thought that i looked around in there good for a nut or a bolt, but i guess i wasnt looking hard enough, i foudn the wire inside the door when i was doing it but i didnt notice any nuts or anything, but when i get closer to sanding the exterior i will have to take the door panels off again....thanks again guys

Double-check the wiring. After more consideration, the mirror wiring in my 85 was definately not in the door (perhaps a change from earlier to later models).

oh ok, good, now i'm not dreading this job quite as bad....nothing sucks quite as much as tracing wires and disconnecting them only to feed them back through in about a week or so and try to hunt down the wires to connect to haha....i was thinking if worst came to worse i'd just snip the wires right out of the mirror and in the door and put on a male/female connector there
