Need advice drivers side pwr mirror repair

My drivers side IROC mirror moves left and right but not up or down. Please tell me how to disassemble the mirror to replace the defective parts.

Thanks

Re: Need advice drivers side pwr mirror repair

Well, I'm guilty as he** of un-bolting and chucking stuff then just bolting on replacement parts. Sometimes it's the right thing to do. Not when the old part has new PPG paint on it!

So, do I just break out the glass and curse myself to 7 years of bad luck to get to the mirror's motor or what? Help me out here guys!

I can't remember the exact technique man.I do remember that once you have the mirror assembly off of the car,you have to manuever the glass around a bit to gain access to the screws that hold it in.If I have a chance, tomorrow I'll take a look at mine that are still unassembled if that helps.

Re: Need advice drivers side pwr mirror repair

I'd really appreciate the help, and advice. I really dont want to take the mirror off of the car (since it's newly painted) but, I'll do it if it's necessary!

Thanks in advance!

Check the switch before you mess with the mirror itself. You may find that the switch has 'come apart' on the back side and if you push it together, all functions again. Ask me how I know .

I'd like to know! What has me puzzled is why the passenger side mirror works as it should from the same switch but the drivers side has only 50% of its function... you think it may be the switch? That would be too easy!

I experienced a similiar problem (I can't recall about the pass side, however), and the switch was the culprit. Five minutes to check it out. Might save you a major pain. For your sake, I hope so.
