some people paint with them on and some paint with them off.. its recommended to take as much off and paint it seperate as possible.

Id say it really depends on if you want to take them off, if you think theres rust under them then take em off. I'd recommend painting them separate though, just makes it cleaner, and they're not very hard to remove.

I took them off so I could paint under them. Put them back on and painted the whole car.

Certain low buck primers retain moisture. You can guess what happens next. Rust and lots of it. DO IT RIGHT. Take as much apart as possible then paint everything separately and then just take your time and be careful during the re assembly.

paint them off the car.. trust me you will be much happier, especially if you paint the skirts a different color, i'm in the process of pulling mine off so i can repaint them and the bottom of the car to get a cleaner paint line.. just be carefull putting them on

it is to your benefit to remove them, mirrors, turn signals, taillights, grille, spoiler, bumper covers or atleast loosen them up so paint can go around.if you take a few extra minutes to do this before you drop the car off your job will come out better.

Re: paint w/ or w/o grdefx on it?
Paint them seperate for the best look. Plus the car will have some rust issues from rain or wintertime where the ground effects attach to the car that you can't see until they are off and you can deal with that and get another 15 years of rust free from the area under the ground effects. Also take off your spoilers and if you have the blisters / louvers take those off too. Just be careful taking the effects off. When the body shop took mine off the brackets were so rusted they had to make me new ones (finding used ones is next to impossible) when it was time to re-attach.
