Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
so the guy that was working on our evo started taking too long for hte money and my dad decided to bring the car home. here's how it sits...
as you can see in this first picture, the wheels stick way out up front. the whole front end isn't bolted on or anything, and we plan on molding in universal fender flares to come out and meet the wheels.
the side view shows a more sweeping line of the car. the front clip will be pulled out and riveted behind the front wheels, to make that widebody look
this picture has a better angle for explaining that widebody touch i just mentioned. those rear wheels have about an 8" lip on them.
this picture shows the grand prix hood scoops we are molding onto the hood. they will be functional for cooling the big block.
this one is the front wheels. the lip in back is twice as deep.
any questions let me know.

You should put this motor in there instead of the big block,
Twin Turbo LS7
I wish I could have afforded that kit when they still made them (I heard that they stopped making them, correct?)

yay for nice comments! thanks guys.
answers:
Paint: we have it down (ever changing) to four "colors"
1. Candy apply red. like go to a store and look at a red LG washing machine...that red.
2. House of Colors Cobalt Blue..that kind of blue that you cant really decide if its blue or purple or whatever. search "k1 attack" and google, and the blue one is that color.
3. Iridescent candy apple red. the car would appear black, but as sun would hit it, it would turn candy apple red, even down the whole side of the car. sounds *****, but its killer.
4. iridescent cobalt blue. make your own inferences
Availability: done. the only way you cna get one is if someone is selling one (i know of one right now, finished with a fourth gen interior for 27k). K1 actually got into some legal issues with Ferrari for too closely replicating thier molds, so they got out of the evo business. The number made might be lower than 20, with fewer than 10 making it to our shores, but who knows.
Response:
Engine wise, if we were doing it again, we would probably do something like that. The big block is heavy and well, big. so a built small block would be the re-route. but hind sight is 20 20

That hood and front fascia/bumber, did it not simply come off some car with a similar wheel base? I figured it would be 90% that simple?

I e-mailed the company 2 years ago and they only had 7 body kits left. The company was in Czech Republic.

"The tires stick out, because of the bs he's using."
????
I knew they had a couple of kits left. And they were also trying to sell the molds too.
As for the explanation of the front end, dad wanted a wider body in front than what came with the kit, so we bought wheels that were wider than they should be, and we are bringing hte body out to meet them. the door skins and rocker panels were brought out as well. Instead of tucking nicely along the bottom of the doors, they stick out.

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
What i am saying is this... could i do a little searching and look for a car with a very very close wheelbase. And find a front bumper/fascia for that car?
(e.g.) A honda civic front piece like this ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB..._promot_widget )
Lets assume the width of this peice would fit our cars. Could i then just modify the peices around it? and get it to fit in?
And what about the various body kits available for the 4th gen camaros? Would those peices fit on our cars, with a little elbow grease and imagination?
Im looking for a project to do first, and i got my heart set on it being a body mod...

"anything is possible with time and money"
and that would take a lot of both. Sure you can do it, but to me it would be too much work/money. The k1 is made for a third gen, and we already have $10k invested in a body shop and its not even halfway done.
All in all, you can do it, but be prepared for a long road ahead.

BS--BACK SPACE I kinda assumed the bs was different, but yeah, it could just as easily been the overall width.

Those kits are too expensive and too ***** for me. I respect the work and money and time that people put into them but I love the straight lines and boxy look of the third gens. Kudos on the kit and the work man. I would personally just build a cobra kit car or something of that nature for that kind of money. Very different thought. It probably has to grow on you eh?

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
I like the Evo kits, however I'd have to have two cars, one normal, one Evolutionized.
I don't think it even comes CLOSE To mimicing a Ferrari. What about all those fiero kit cars that are made to look like various Lambo and Ferrari's. Those are certainly closer to a "replicar"
The Evo kit looks like nothing else out there really.

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
i appreciate this being respectful guys. i've seen threads on this car get pretty heated.
yes the idea is to be unique, and thats the main reason dad hasnt just given up on it. he loved that he couldnt stop at a stop light without somebody asking what it was. nobody knows. even hardcore car enthusiasts are usually stumped.
we wanted to go even further, and be unique in a make of unique cars. in a line of evos, we wanted ours to stand out, hence the widebody, the vertical doors, the custom tail lights, and all the other crazy stuff we are doing to it. People say we killed a gorgeous car. I agree that third gens are nice cars, but to be honest, i didn't even really know about them that much until pops bought this one. As i've mentioned before, he saw the car in a magazine and said "i want that car" not "i want that camaro with a body kit on it." and while it certainly doesnt replicate one single ferrari, it definately has hardcore styling from them, which was part of the lawsuit with ferrari. The door skins were almost identical to a twin turbo testarossa, and the hood was almost dead on to a 550 maranello.

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
thats an evo1 kit right? thats going to be a killer for sure when its done i can't wait to get started on my evo2 gts kit im going to start ripping into the car this week or next i will take pictures but my progress on the car it will be very slow going though. i really wish i wasn't missing a couple of pieces from the kit also but i will find a way around it.

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
yeah it is an evo 1, but as you can see we are adding most of the stuff that comes with a 2...hood scoops, vertical doors, different tail lights, etc. what parts are you missing for yours?
also be prepared. this is a HUGE undertaking.

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
stephen i'll go take a couple shots. they arent mounted yet, the back is all flush, but i can give you an idea. basically two trailer led bars mounted horizontally on top of each other. brb...gotta go take pics

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
so while im waiting on the pics to upload to my photobucket, i'll give you guys an idea of whats to come.
electronic exhuast cut outs in front of the rear wheels out the sides
motorized hatch
one off custom interior w/ full audio system
ron francis wiring
shaved handles with poppers
repainted engine block
custom paint job
ah ha! pics are loaded...
this is my brother holding the still unmounted led bars. they will be sunken in to be flush with the body
just another one to give you the idea.
i also took some more pics...
theres an idea of the offset of the rear wheels
here you can see whats been done to clean up teh bottoms of the doors since they will be a lot more visible. that hole is for the billet fuel door. you can also see how the rear clip blends in through the roof. if you guys have any more picture requests, i can take them.

Looks good. Can't wait to see how the custom turns out. A GTA digital dash face, would look right at home in that body!

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
as of right now we are going wingless. we threw the original away cuz it was junk. terrible construction on k-1s part with that. we are adding digital guages to our dash. the rear seats will not be put back in, and subs and audio/video will be put in thier place.

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
yes the wing had a two piece design that caused it to flex and shake violently in the wind, and ultimately break apart.
our handles are shaved on our car obey. we are using poppers. you can see in the pic of the door from behind.

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
I usually dont like these either...but this one seems to be coming together nicely. I like the extra mile you guys are going. Widening things and making them look unique. Im anxious to see it when its finished.
My only piece of critisism, is choice of motor. That evo kit makes the car look so much more sleek and modern and techie that Ide yank that BB and put something else in. My choice would probably be LS1. Since the wiring is pretty much stand alone, making the switch to fuel injection isnt a big deal. And you can easily match the power of that bb with little mods, and still have a really reliable streetable motor in there. Not to mention when you pop the hood it will look alittle more exotic than seeing the old school BB. They are becoming really affordable these days too. Pull outs go pretty cheap.
But either way, its a bad *** car and I wish you luck in getting it finished! Keep us updated!!

yeah, j, thats our thoughts too. if we did it again we'd do a suped up small block. our 600 horses of raw power could be easily taken by 300 supertuned horses

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
the wheels are Makaveli Vanquish with michelin pilot sport S's on them. Rears are 20 x 13.5" with a -75 offset, and the fronts are 18x9.5 i believe. i'll check that for you tomorrow. the car is lowered by cutting OEM springs. looking into air sup though.,

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
Pretty cool. I like the way they basically open themselves upwards, once they are out. Not having to lift those monster doors yourself.

that would be me. i didnt want to look like overly happy and cheery and smiling. and i was kinda bored waiting for my buddy to show up. so yea. that was my mood at the moment :-)
and a thing to keep in mind, the doors are empty right now. no glass, no motors, no latches, so they open themselves. once all thats in, they are pretty much nuetral, and you can stop them wherever you like

Re: Evoluzione Build Pics...with vertical doors
I didn't mean anything negative about them opening themselves. I LIKE it. Certainly better than having to manually LIFT the ?30lb? door. That would get REAL old, REAL quick!
Yeah, you look WAY too excited dude! Chill out!
That's gonna be real cool ride when it's done!

I think the fact that it has t-tops, is gonna fit real well. A hard top would still be cool, I just think the t-tops add that little extra!
