Anyone use a T-top weatherstrip alternative?

Those sets are expensive...at least the good quality ones. I believe mine have gotten flat over the years. I can't remember the last time I took off my t-tops. I know they leak like crazy during a hard rain. I wondering if anyone tried use just regular weatherstripping and caulked it down real good. If someone has done this, let me know or if you've used something else as an alternative.

Oh Ken,I know a few people that have tried this method and failed.Yes the weatherstrips can be pricey, but well worth it if you want to be able to drive down the road when its raining and stay dry.

SPRAY W-D 40 OR SOMTHING STRONGER TO SWELL THE SEALS. NOT SHURE IF IT WILL WORK ON ALL T TOPS, BUT IT FIXED MINE. IT SHOULD IF THERE THE SAME RUBBER. BUT ITS WORTH A TRY IF THEY ALREADY LEAK???? AND ITS FREE.

I KNOW I AM GOING TO GET A COMMENT SAYING (DUMB IDEA?) WELL IV BEEN DUMB AND DRY FOR A WHILE IN MINE HAHAHAHA!

GOOD LUCK,

ALSO IF THERE REALLY BAD IV SPRAYED BRAKE CLEANER ON THEM AND REALLY SWELLED THEM UP. THEN ARMORALLD THEM SO THEY WOULD NOT FLAKE APART.........

i heard armorall is bad to use unless you reapply it very often, i heard it makes plastics/rubbers brittle after awhile.. i had the same problem and put a thin bead of clear silicone around the weatherstripping where it meets the body, havent leaked since.. of course this is just my temporary fix until the new weatherstripping and paintjob

GM makes a seal conditioner that is intended for that purpose. dont use crap commonly available at the hardware store. if you have local restoration shop, they should stock it. i went to camaro specialties near where i live and the stuff was like 20 bucks for the can, but i dont have any noticeable leaks anymore.
