Camaro front ground effect strength

I just picked up a front ground effect that only has a tear in one corner. I feel that is better to repair it rather than spend $400 on a new one. While I was examining it for repair, I thought about reinforcing it. I don't have a significant idea yet except it'd be nice if it were tougher. I know they are supposed to flex in order to survive; but that doesn't always work either.

umm...i would suggest fiberglass and wood for re-inforcement.
fiberglass and wood in thick quantities will give it strength and still be light enough. using a metal strip would be difficult for bonding purposes and anything thicker than 1/4" and its too heavy to make a difference. but the cost of doing that and you might be looking at buying a new one anyways so just be carefull when pulling into sloped driveways, enter always one wheel at a time up the curb. i wouldnt want that this solid anyways, if it hit something and it was solid, it might rip off the bumper bolts holding it and take the bumper with it.

I figured I'd use fiberglass on the back side to do the repair. Maybe, I could put a small piece of bent sheet metal in for strength in the corners.
