Re: paint product

never even heard of them, it is lacquer so it isn't going to be great for low maintenance and shine (lacquer needs to be rubbed) also many states don't allow it to be sprayed (big fines if caught)

Re: paint product

Nor have I, dupont is still around but not available in tx.

I am not a pro and need something that is somewhat forgiving with a buffer and 1200/2000. Doing this myself and am a rookie but have to start with something.

Re: paint product

Here is the web address for their products. I am planning using it to paint my 82 Camaro when its ready. I am going to use the Acrylic Enamel paint they sell though. I have sprayed Acrylic Enamel before with great results from Martin Seniour but the price for their products now is rediculous thats why I am going to try this brand. Good Luck with your paint job. Go to their web page a read about the Acrylic Enamel Paint the have. http://www.paintforcars.com/

Re: paint product

the pics on the internet look good....but a gallon of ppg clear cost more than the entire paint kit they offer....kinda makes me skeptical

Re: paint product

For me it is a shot in the dark. I don't have a shop and am doing this in my garage so a forgiving system is what I am looking for. Be it dupont an off brand or the current basecoat clear coat system. I have a chronar system in my garage less color, but the local dupont dealer is not sure if the current system color will mix properly. The euro prime is of course not a problem. There is also the age question.

Re: paint product

I am going to do the prep myself and then find a shop to shoot the basecoat and clear coat. I was looking at the less expensive product in case I "screw" it up in the learning process. I had no idea that asking this question would cause me to be assumed a proverty case, ***, idiot, cheap, aka dumb azz. If I was not concerned about how it looks then I would have already taken it to a cut rate shop and had a cut rate paint job put on the car. I like to do things myself so I can take pride in the work and not in knowing how much it cost, therefore, I do all I am capable of doing properly.

What happened to responding with some indication of information based on knowledge as did one maybe two replies? Most are as I read them based on no real knowledge other than well "I think", well "I would not do that" but really have no clue as you have never seen it, used it or talked to one who has.

Just for the sake of record keeping how many of you have "racing seats" or a cowl hood? Those things are like me putting a windshield on my Harley....it will never happen because it just looks bad and is in poor taste. Oh, almost forgot, I also don't rip the engine bay apart and install a carburator, rip out the air conditioning and emissions because I am to stupid to make it work or to broke to have it fixed and then put it up for sale as if it is some gem that is worth nothing to most.

Thank you for the time, seems we all have different opinions on how to do things.

Re: paint product

I HAD TO PUT A COWL HOOD B/C MY CARBURATOR WAS SITTING TOO HIGH......it all depends on how you look at it man.....you can take stock tpi 305 3rd gen like you are talking about.....and a hacked up 350 with carb......who do you really think would win? the 245 hp (at best) 305? or the 300-ENDLESS AMOUNTS of HP and torque........

some ppl like restomods, just my 2 cents

Re: paint product

No it is an lt1/t56 some worked heads and a cc503 cam. In the garage to be installed. I live in an emissions test area and will get around 350 to the wheels when done, I don't need a lot more than that and some time.

Re: paint product

there are still paints available that don't cost an arm and a leg...and actually look...and layout great. OMNI is a great product....along with their primers and sealers. It's probably 1/2 the price compared to alot of your higher end paints. Just go to some local body shop supply stores and see what's available.
