Water leaks into trunk

When it rains or when i wash my car i get water in my trunk. It got so bad that my whole carpet in the trunk area was badly stained and forced me to remove it. Whats my solution? New weather stripping? I noticed that I have a rear hatch glass (possibly whole hatch) from an 85', not sure if that could cause any problems, i would think the size and fittings are the same.. my car is an 86' which came with the 3rd brake light on the top of the hatch, the hatch i got the car with has no 3rd brake light. I found lots of glass in the trunk area when I first bought the car so I know it was replaced. Any input will be appreciated

Re: Water leaks into trunk

i have the same problem with my car. the hatch pull down broke and the trunk wouldent close so the previous owner welded the thing in the closed position and it doesnt keep all the water out. when it rains it has a constant drip into my trunk and that little compartmet with the lock gets water in it too.

I had this same problem with my T/A, turns out the side of the metal (forgot the part name ) thats after the glass was rusted therefore letting water in.
