Re: chassis stiffening

Im going bolt in SFC's then im welding them in (for just that little bit of extra security), A triangle brace from the front towers to the firewall (duno if it has a name), A wonder bar (steering), Im also thinking about making a brace betwene the top of the 2 rear shockers but I don't know if it will help any.
There is more but i don't have time to list atm.

Re: chassis stiffening

yea, you can just box the control arms. I'd recommend putting in poly bushings, or at least replace the stock rubber ones, no doubt they're completely worn out.
I used 1/8" steel bar, I think 1.5" wide, about 18" long, per rear control
arm. I've got a few pictures, but it's really quite self explanatory.

Yeah, like a walkthrough guide on "How to make a 3rd gen handle 500+HP" I bet it would be a very good sticky.
Well since im tearing my car apart and going over every little part I guess I can compile a good list on what im doing (with pics of what I have done) If someone dose not beat me to it.

Re: chassis stiffening

I would really like to see a sticky with all different brands of SFC's. I know there are plenty of threads, but everybody has something different to say about every brand.

I would like to have all the brands analyzed with the price, how effective they are, and pictures of installation, and connection points.

I was looking at a bunch of different brands, and they all seem to follow different paths under the car. They also all weld or bolt in at different points. Some just seem to stiffen the pinchweld area, while others go from the actual front subframe to the rear subframe. Even some others go from the front subframe to the rear LCA location.

If anyone else is interested, I could start the thread. I would research what I could, and post it up. I have no real experience in owning SFC's I have just been looking. But if i started it, others could add their own setup, pics, and comments.

Re: chassis stiffening

I'd be interested, sub-frame connecters are then next thing after a brake upgrade for me so I'd love to see a bit of a comparison.

Re: chassis stiffening

subframe connectors are great, just make sure the rest of your car is up to snuff before spending the big bucks on aftermarket parts.

the 170 i spent on subframes, and 70 bucks to have them welded in, woulda been much better spent on everything else my car needed before sfcs: springs, shocks, steering components, tune up, blah blah blah.
