89 Camaro/Trans Am Racecar

Hey Guys,

First post so sorry if it's a little off. I recently bought a wrecked 89 Camaro SCCA GT1 race car, it was flipped only 4 months after it was built in 1992. The car was built by Barefoot Racing in Gaithersburg, MD by a really good family friend of ours. I have always wanted the car because of the amazing fabrication work on the car, mainly the rear suspension. I picked up the car about 2 years ago and finally just started on it a couple of months ago. The body was pretty much the only thing that was in terrible shape but I recently cut a 89 from the A pillars back and places the whole roof and quarter panels on the car. I have all the pieces I need from the 89 Firebird but I was interested if anyone knows the difference of the drag coefficient between a 89 Firebird Formula and a 91 Firebird? Or if they are not the best any opinions would be appreciated, I just mention the 91 bird because I have always liked the looks. As of right now the car is getting a Chevy 350 and a T56 swap until I have enough money to do a LSX based swap. The car is just gonna mainly be a track car to have some fun but I will also drive it on the street occasionally. I was possibly thinking about turning the car into a Maxton Mile car when I get the funds to build my turbo LSX motor, so the the best drag coefficient would be great to know now so I don't have to come back to it.

I was also wondering if you all know anyone who makes a good flip up headlight delete, I hate flip ups.

Lastly is there anyone out there that makes good fiberglass hoods and or panels so I cold lighten it up even more?

Thanks
Dustin

O P.S. I have a couple of pictures of the car and the new body work if anyone is interested, I just might not know how to upload them onto this website.

I'm confused do you have a camaro or a firebird? Or are you putting all the firebird parts onto the camaro and making it into a firemaro?

90 & earlier, were .34 cd, 91/92 were .29 cd, IIRC, so the 91 would be bit better, cd-wise. I still think the earlier ones look better, IMHO.

At the expense of downforce. The main decrease in the CoD is because of the lack of the chin spoiler built into the 85-90 TA ground effects and the switch from the Aerospoiler to the whale tail.

Considering you are not going for top speed the TA ground effects would be the better choice.

The original 3rd gen firebird without the ground effects had a CoD of .299. The early TA's had a Cod of .32 according the sales media.
