Viability of sectioning frame horn/bumper mount

Been working on this '89 Formula and its finally time to get the welding done. Problem is I can't drive it all over town without a hood, front clip, and bumper... as well as insurance and registration.

I have got a few quotes... well 1... They were looking at 4-6 hours just to cut out the old piece and check the frame alignment.

What i have going on is the left front bumper mount, or frame horn, it totally destroyed. Frame is alright (not obviously damaged anyhow) and core support is useable. I just need to be able to drive this car with relative saftey.

Where is the sectioning region for the front frame rail? Hopefully its in that open area between the core support and the strut tower... Or can they be sectioned at the front edge of the core support? I really don't want to spend (cant spend...) upwards ofr a grand for this part of the car, just need to be able to mount the bumper up decent, I have no problems with needing to shim the hood latch or something; its a beater car.

Has anybody delt with this type of thing that can offer advice? Got the car on the ultra-cheap and everything is good on it except the front clip/bumper and need to get it on the road asap to replace my totalled ford.

The factory joint is all the way back underneath the firewall. If the steering box didn't move like mine did, I'd try real hard to stay in front of its mounts. If you can chop it off in front of the core support, even better. Look closely for any creases in the sheet metal. Is the bracing triangle for engine cross member bent?

Here's a couple pictures that might help you decide how bent up yours really is.
