need recomendation
Hey fellow 3rd gen minions, I need help with this.
Could somebody recomend a floor jack so that I can jack up the front under the k member or just under the control arm.
what I am really asking is do they make one low and long enough to reach from the front?

Re: need recomendation
I have not seen many over 1 or 2 ton that will fit under the car. The big and strong floor jacks are just to hight to get under there. What I do is just use a small 1 ton jack to jack the front up (works fine under the strut) enought to get my 3 ton floor jack under it. Basically, you have to jack the car up to get a jack under it
. I thought my uncle was joking when he told me that until I tried it. I also thought that he was joking about getting out of the car next to a curb and falling out instead of getting out...then I did it

make yourself a set of ramps. Take 2- 2x12's, nail them together and cut one side on a shallow angle, then you can drive the car up on them and fit almost any floorjack under the car. Thats how i have to do mine

I either jack up under the control arm and then place a jack on the cross brace or i drive onto a piece of wood then do it.

Re: need recomendation
While a few boards are cheaper, if you're looking for a jack, they make low profile jacks and air jacks that are thin and then inflate under the jacking point (prices can range quite dramatically as expected) . . .

This one is only 2 1/2" high and will reach anywhere you need it.
It retails for around $250 . . .

On this topic, here's a wild idea (not sure I'd want, it's but interesting) . . .

We have one we bought from Canadian Tire, it's 2 1/2 inches high, 2 ton capacity, and was under 100$. Works good for lifting it high enough to get a higher jack underneath.

Re: need recomendation
ok, thank you for the responses. I was just getting tired of having to use 2 jacks to jack up one side. (screw jack and then the floor jack).
Kind of gets old, if you know what I mean.
