Fender Removal Question

The car is a 91 Camaro and im trying to get the drivers side fender off but i cant seem to figure out the bolts holding the fender to the front of the car. I seem to have most of the bolts off except one or two, my question is are all the bolts circled in red bolts that hold the fender on? And is the bolt in the first picture which is located right behind the headlight fixture holding it on? And if it is i seem to be lost as how to get at it?

A better picture of where this bolt is

And the remainder of the bolts.

I have all the bolts off under the GFX and along the top of the fender itself, It just seems tricky to get at the last ones.

Re: Fender Removal Question

Yea, I think you are probably missing the ones that hold the fender to the nose piece along the front/leading edge of the fender. They are pretty tricky and hard to reach, but they have to come off to remove the fender. I can't really see much from the pictures, but it sounds like that is where your problem is. There should be like 3 or 4 I think along that leading edge if that helps in telling you if you got them all or not :-p Good luck.

Re: Fender Removal Question

Yes, those bolts you pointed out all need to come out and it sounds like you already have the obvious bolts out. Sometimes it is easier to get to the top inside bolts from inside the engine compartment with a swivel and extension. One word of caution, soak those bolts with wd40 or something and let them sit for a while before you try and remove them. Otherwise, the nuts may be seized and cause the whole stud to thread out of the fiberglass headlight mounting panel. This will leave the bumper cover pinned to the fender and there's no good way of removing it without ruining the fender or bumper cover.

Re: Fender Removal Question

Theres also one BIG bolt and nut, at the bottom of the fender BEHIND the front wheel. This one is always VERY rusty, will probably break. Just get a new nut and bolt and replace. You have all the front ones circled and you have all the top ones circled. THe chin spoiler will need to come off to be able to remove these successfully, as well as the front bolts to the side skirt GFX. THese ones are really tricky. You have tho remove the sticker that says RS or Z28, and theres a bolt in there. Ill snap some pix of my removed fender, to give you an idea of where all the holes are.

The trick is to pull the rear of the fender out, and then try to "work" it off the studs that hold it to the nose. The threads will catch quite a bit, just be patient with it. If you find yourself getting angry, take a 5 minute breather, thats usually when things start breaking. Hope that helps.
