85' firebird frontend damage
85' firebird frontend damage
Hi all,
A while back I slid my firebird in to a pine tree. Impact was on the passenger side right inline with the wheel. ( too fast on a wet road, a curve...) The impact crushed the top right portion of the clip where the fender bolts up. The tree missed the wheel by about an inch. What are my options here? The "smart" thing to do would be to by a new bird' but I love this car and will part with it when hell freezes over first. I'll try and post some pics of the damage.
I know that since this is a unibody i cant simply unbolt the clip so can i tube the top half of the clip and leave the k member alone? ( i've seen a pic somewhere of that). Im going to endup putting a cage in it eventualy. Any ideas, sugestions ect? Someone been through this already?
Tnx
Joe

I don't really know about tubing the top half.Might work?
I would say,get all the damaged stuff off the car first, like the hood, fenders and front bumper cover to see what kind of structure damage there really is.
If you have a few pics, that would be helpful.I know a few people here can tell from a pic whether or not there is significant structure damage or not.
By the way,welcome to TGO!
