need help to verify vin on chassis

Transmission: 5 speed stick
need help to verify vin
I am looking at a "1984" Berlinetta. I noticed one problem... In all the exterior signatures that say "Berlinetta" the b is capitalized. I have read that until 1985 the b in the signature was lowercase
also it has the revised 1985+ front bumper and amber turn signals (berlinettas got clear turn signals)
the vin I was given is "1G1AS87H7ELXXXXXX" so the vin is definitely from a 1984 Berlinetta with a LG4 engine...
can anyone tell me how to verify the vin on the chassis so I dont have to worry about buying a car with an illegally swapped vin?

before I would think the vin was swapped I'd think the emblems, bumper cover and turn signals were swapped. anyways check the drivers door for a vin.

Should also be a tag on the rear quarter panel, take out the spare tire and look for the tag.

I would also assume it hasn't had its vin swapped, but I dont wanna take the risk. thanks for the help.
