Stumped by a door panel
So I need to get my door panel off to perform a cleaning on the sticky door latch that I have, but I hit a snag in the removal of the door panel. I searched the threads and I can't seem to find anybody with the same problem on the same style of door as mine. I found the tech article about removing the door panels, and it's very good, except it too used a door with a different style than mine. The inside door lock is different than anyone else's that I've seen in threads. In the picture, you can see there is a large round carriage bolt or something in the center of the door handle, and the panel seems to be stuck right there. I have no idea how to get it off; the manual I have for the car shows the same setup as the tech article. It's too cold and snowy here for me to go to a junkyard and putz around, otherwise I would. Thanks for the help.

Re: Stumped by a door panel
I haven't ever had your particular door appart to speak from experience, but 15 years of designing door hardware for GM and Ford tells me that is a snap in cap covering a screw for the inside handle bezel.

From looking at it and playing around with it some, it doesn't seem like there is any clear gap to pry it off from, and it's metal. It would make sense that it were a cap, but I couldn't get it to pop off.

Re: Stumped by a door panel
didn't think that was a bolt...but i do know that you need to remove the lock indicator, at the end of it pry it towards you and it should pop off the lock control arm, and that may free it up somewhat. I didn't know there was a bolt there, but i agree it might just be a cover over the screw.
