Re: ground effects

What are you trying to do. Make your formula look like the 91-92 Firebirds with the ground effects all the way around. If so Ill be listing mine on ebay in a few wks. Due to weather I havent had time to remove them. Im doing a K.I.T.T replica.

Re: ground effects

Wow, you have a 91 Formy with ground effects? Did you special order it with GFX from the factory, because Formulas typically do not have ground effects. It's not totally unheard of though, my 88 Formy 350 was ordered from the dealer with GFX.

...Oh and smack that kid by the way for busting up your Formy!

Re: ground effects

well thats what Im trying to figure out. I know they have the nose that the firebirds have in 91-92 but the ground effects I cant picture it on a formula. I seen a 91 formula with no gfx at all. Any picks that you can post would help.

Re: ground effects

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that you're car is just a Firebird, and not a Formula. I have a 91 Firebird and it even says Firebird Formula on the title even though it's just a base bird. There is nothing in the VIN that determines a regular Firebird from a Formula. The VIN will only tell you if it's a Trans Am or Firebird.

The only way to tell if it's a Formula is to check the RPO codes.

I don't think there was ever a 91-92 Formula with GFX.

Re: ground effects

If you know how to work with metal then check out this thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...ight=gfx+91-92

Mine were busted up when I got the car. They are very expensive pieces IF you can find them.

Re: ground effects

Great info and nice work. Ive had 2 Formula's in the past and both didnt have any gfx. Im going to be removing the gfx off my current 91 bird. I just dont like it, but for what I paid for it and wont feel to bad removing them. Im also going to cut the rear bumper's gfx off and not sure if Im going to keep it like that or get a old trans am bumper. Well then your formula's are rare if I say so myself.

Any chance would you have a Paper or Electronic Template for the GFX you made from Sheet Metal? I have the same problem with a 91 Stock FB. I located and installed the LF GFX, but have been searching for months for the Right Side. I find everything else aftermarket nearly, but no GFX. Sheet metal seems to me it would be more durable, and if damaged, easier to remake by hand or the local sheet metal shop tech with better skills than I.

Re: ground effects

The VIN only distinguishes between Firebird and T/A. A Formula is basically a "better" Firebird. The only way to tell if it's a Formy is to see if you have a W66 RPO code. If you have a W68 RPO then it's a regular Firebird with the T/A appearance package (GFX).

jwduncan:

I don't have any type of template or drawing of the metal GFX that I made. I just used a broken one that I had for measurements. I made the first one like the broken piece, then just made a mirror image of it.

On the RPO sticker either in the center console or in the little storage compartment on the driver side rear of the hatch area.
