Car: '87 GTA WS6 package.
Engine: 5.7 350 w/ small cam, roller rocker
Transmission: T-5 out of an '85 Trans Am
Axle/Gears: Stock
'89 IROC-Z gas tank replace
Would a tank out of an '87 T/A GTA 305 work in my '89 IROC 350 bored .30 over w/ supercharger?

tank will swap, i don't know if sending units would. TPI to TPI application would obviously work, but i don't know if the sending unit of the TBI is the same as TPI.

if you use your original sending unit it would be an easy swap. Your sending unit and a new tank will work.

a new sending unit and new straps will not work with the rebuilt small black instead of the TBI? The reason I ask is because I figured if I'm going through the pain in the *** of removing and installing a new tank, I might as well replace the sending unit since it's stock from '89..

the only thing i'm not positive about is the similarity between TPI and TBI sending units, i am aware that the pumps are very diff (pressure wise), but either sending unit will fit in the tank, so yea you can just get an appropriate sending unit for your application, and go from there.
