a search will yeild the answers to your question. It depends what you mean by a regular camaro.. do you mean a bottom of the line v6 car or do you mean as compared to a standard z28 (in the years that both models were offered). Basically an IROC is an appearance and suspension package.

Re: what makes a irocz28?
There are many differences that separate an iroc from any other thirdgen.
Irocs had stiffer suspensions, bigger sway bars, generally came with higher optioned engines, (although you could still get the TPI in regular z28s), and came with decals and dash emblems. They also had much tighter steering. 2.25 turns lock to lock in an iroc vs. 2.5 turns on any other thirdgen. Ive driven both and its a noticeable difference. If im not mistaken, the tighter steering boxes could ONLY be had on irocs and not on any other models. (not sure if the GTAs came with it or not)
Please dont try to make an iroc clone, fix up your 86 as an iroc and enjoy your 90 as an RS. There is nothing wrong with the RS, i think they are great looking cars just the way they are. You would have to change the suspension, steering, ground effects, and dash to make a "correct" iroc out of it. Anything less would just look tacky. I mean its your car, do whatever you want with it. Its just that i have yet to see an iroc clone that looked right. Good luck man.

Hey man thats why we're here. Ive owned 3 thirdgens and i couldnt have built any of them without this site. Just post up any questions you have and they will be answered.
Fix up the iroc, it will be worth far more as an original than even the nicest clone could ever hope to be. Thirdgens havent quite become collectors cars yet but its only a matter of time. Ive seen their value rise quite a bit just in the last 6 years that ive been into them.
