86 iroc.. primer black paint job questions
.. got and 86 iroc.. want to keep it all PRIMER black. but from what i read and talk to some guys.. they say that the primer needs to be sealed(via paint) so that the metal dont rust and the primer does not come off.
is there anywhay i could still maintain that primer black look yet seal it?
unless this is all bs?
also.. could i do this?
sand the car all down.. get it down to orig primer.. throw some body filler.. and sand to smoth it out..
ROLL ON black primer.. couple coats.. THEN sand it smooth?
will that work.. any sugestions... let me know.. dont want to waste money here. but dont want to spend a fortune..(thats for the motor

Oh no another primered 3rd gen. Please, save us! Don't use anything that comes out of a spray can. What will hold up in the elements, is epoxy primer (2 part, must be sprayed from a gun). You can get black, and it is very durable and waterproof. That said, please, please don't.

they are right when they say that you cant leave your car primed. even though it is on the body it does not protect it. the primer still breathes. all the primer is used for it to have something for the paint to lay on to. for it to stick onto. i would not leave it primed. if it came down to it and you did not want the paint job look. you could always just flat black it. but i agree with the guy above me, paint it. but we really cant make up your mind for you. if it make you happy do it. you design your car to your liking not others.
