I just bought an 88 GTA. I had it shipped to me. when It arrived, the hatch was locked. Opened it with the key. Haven't been able to get it to close since. The hatch release on the dash works. The two contacts are making contact. Don't know where to start. Could the motor be burned out. Any suggestions on where to start or what could be the problem.

is the motor stuck all the way down? That may be why it wont catch

 

Yes, the motor is stuck all the way down. any thoughts on how I get it unstuck :-)
