my 83 Trans Am is ready for paint by this weekend. before i go talk to the body shops is there a special kind of paint thats worth the little bit extra? i know im painting it black and i already bought the decals that are silver or grey, i was thinking something like a ferrari black or something different like that for paint, suggestions? pics?

 

when I was looking up a color for my car (Im going with a red) but I came across an awesome black called "viper black", its made by ppg, I dont have the code for it however, I may be able to look it up tomorrow.

 

when i think black, i think cadilac, bmw, and lincoln. you may want to look up paint codes for them if you want a real rich dark black

I don't know my paints but this picture changed my mind about the entire paint scheme of my car. go here and it's the top picture. ask the guy what color that is.

 

I think a ferrari or porsche black would be cool. As far as a good long lasting paint goes i like anything thats polyurethane base enamel(the painter will likely spray the brand he likes).

Did you guy's know that there is only one black. It is called ford stripe black. Call it what ever you want but there is only one. It doesn't matter who makes it, PPG or dupont, there all the same color.

i work at a body shop, you have your base coat clear coat(most is BCCC) or single stage(mostly solid colors)


if you want sumthin a lil fansey ask the guy about HOUSE OF KOLORS
