Replace Glass on Driver Side Mirror?

Hi everyone,

I'm getting some conflicting information and am looking for some advice.

My driver side mirror is cracked but otherwise, the unit is in good condition. Is it possible to change the lens/glass only? How easy is it to do? Someone told me there's a plastic clip behing the lens which will likely break off once I try and take the lens off.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Re: Replace Glass on Driver Side Mirror?

It is very easy........you remove the plastic shell (that the glass is glued to) by grabbing each side and pulling. There is a little metal cross holding it on with 2 arms attached to the motor and 2 to the glass shell. I find it is easier to pull on one side at a time to pop out one arm first.....makes it easier to get the second out.

Then smash the glass and remove it (obviously be careful not to crack the plastic shell). Then glue the replacement glass in the shell and pop the fixture back in the mirror.

Hope this helps.
