fixing 91-92 wing with spinning thread inserts?

I have a 91 transam wing that I had bought with a parts car and it has three of the four mounting bolts snapped into the thread inserts..I used a penetrating oil and tried removing them but they just spin inside the wing. has anyone ever had this problem? any ideas on how to fix it? please help thanks.. I tried a search but there really nothing about the inserts.

Re: fixing 91-92 wing with spinning thread inserts?

I had this problem on one or two bolts on a '92 TA wing. I traded the wing before having to deal with the issue. At the time, I was considering making a hole big enough to remove the "cage" and bolt together. Then, I was going to epoxy a nut where the original cage was, and use a new bolt that fit that nut. I saw no other way to deal with it, but maybe someone else is more creative.

Is the wing hollow? If it is and you can get the insert out of it you could bolt it to the hatch with toggle bolts.

Just throwing it out there, it's the first idea that came to mind.

Re: fixing 91-92 wing with spinning thread inserts?

yeah its hollow, I didnt think it would be a problem so addressed all the other problems with the plastic first. It had a spider crack in the paint I fixed and I epoxied the top and bottom together at the outer seem to make sure itll never seperate. Ive heard its common for that to happen. So now I have a bunch of time into it and need to figure out a solution.
