door handle busted

my driver side outside door handle just succumbed to the added stress of opening caused by saggin hinge pins.

i can only open the door from the inside. when i pull the inside handle the outside handle still rotates upward like normal.

what is the best way to help fix this?!?

thanx

Re: door handle busted

I replaced mine about a week ago. I thought mine was just loose, but when I got it off it fell apart in my hand. It's easy to fix. Just remove the door panel, remove the rod going from the handle to the latch, and then remove the handle (two bolts). While the door panel is off, go ahead and lubricate everything in there too. If I can fix this anyone can. LOL

Re: door handle busted

You can pick up a new door handle on ebay for about $15-20 including shipping.

Re: door handle busted

I'd just leave the passenger one alone and go to your local parts store and buy a door handle, shouldn't be more then $15

Watch out for the ones at O'Reilly's and Advance, they may look the same but the holes don't match up for f-bodys. They're meant for other GM cars like the Century and Celebrity. I bought mine off ebay for $12.

Re: door handle busted

You can't swap them side to side like you can the interior handles, the spot where the rod goes would be wrong. I bought a replacement at the local Napa, the fit was fine but the quality really isn't there.
