exterior handles keep coming loose

exterior handles keep coming loose

i 've took these doors apart 3 times and tightened the handles! and they keep coming loose now it's ruined my new paint job cause they chewed right through the paint.

The stamped retaining nuts may have cracks/splits in them.

Do what I did. Take the handle off. The stud on the back of the handle, run a die on it to make some threads. Then use a nut and a few washers to hold it on. Wont budge now.

They call them "speed nuts" and you can get new ones at NAPA.
