Fenders

Hi all, I've been reading threads and getting info to help with my restoration of my 86 IROC, and I am replacing the fenders and couldn't find a thread that recommended a site or supplied a GM parts number. My questions are, there aftermarket fenders any good, or will there need to be a large amount of work done to get them fitting right? Also the site Thepartsbin has OE fenders listed for 100 dollars less than other sites are selling Aftermarket fenders and 200 less than OE fenders. If anyone had any experience with Thepartsbin or the fenders on their site please let me know. Here is the link http://www.thepartsbin.com/catalog/?N=1588+9891+4294966986+9206

Re: Fenders

I don't the link you posted is actually gm fenders.(not for $47)
My exp. with aftermarket fenders personally is bad!I had one for my bird that had an ugly gap between the door and fender. Some folks have gotten lucky and actually got an aftermarket that fit correctly. My suggestion is to hit a local j/y first.

Re: Fenders

that link you posted is probably a OER (original eqp re-manufactured) which is a fancy name for aftermarket. I'd go to a jy first. just my opinion after building a 67 camaro vert with all aftermarket metal... lets just say it too lots of hacking but it looked good in the end.

Re: Fenders

In my experience with fender replacement, no fender is going to be a "direct fit", even original GM. I have two $37 after market fenders on my car and they line up pretty darn good. It took a few hours of screwing around with them and bending them to get them to fit the correct way though. GM fenders should be closer to the correct fit, but they will still need some work to make them look right.
