Rust Bulleting the Interior Floor

I am picking up where I left off with my Camaro a few months ago, and that requires welding in a patch panel in the floor. (And now that I have a welder, that can actually be done...) anyway, when I finish with the patch, I was planning on Rust Bulleting the interior floor.

I realized though that there is a lot of sealant in the floor of the car - they used it to seal panels together. However, they got real sloppy with it.

For those of you who rust proofed the interior, what did you do about the sealant? Just go over it, or did you cut it back and trim it up to the edge of the panel?

Any input would be great thanks.

Re: Rust Bulleting the Interior Floor

i had the same problem with my floors.( r/f near the rocker and the left side near the rocker front and rear) i welded the patches and then i went over the rusty areas and patches with a wire wheel and por. then i sprayed under coating over the whole floor. it may not be the way to go and some people may not like the what i did it but it's it's my car and i know there will be no more rust in those spots.
