HID headlight conversion
hey guys ive been looking to convert my healights to some HID but Id like for it to look like the newer cars do. I used the search and everyone seems to talk about just switching the bulb which doesnt really make the actually headlight look any different till its actualy on :/. Ive searched online but Im not very good at that so the only ones Ive stumbled upon are these http://www.kbcarstuff.com/4656_6_x4_..._p/xd-4656.htm . Thats exactly what i want except for the price
. I dont know squat about headlights so are they all in that price range? Will those fit? What about the labor, are they diy or do you need to have a them done by a professional?

The best place to ask about HID stuff is
http://www.hidplanet.com
I'm not sure of the quality of the projectors in those, but for the price they better be good! The guys at HID planet should have some thoughts on them.
If they do, post back here so others know.
Another route is to try and retro in some OEM projectors into a 4x6 housing..
Someday I'm going to attempt this, that is if I ever get the car on the road again.

Actually I Thought about that to; There is a way to to HID on your car under 200 dollars. First; either at a speed shop or ebay, get the diamond cut lights that allows u to put the standard H4 bulbs in. Don't used the bulbs, buy the h4 HID's, just be careful about the temp range. I was told above 8,000K may cause melting. good luck.

You'll cause a lot of glare to others on the road, and have a lot of scattered light. HIDs need to be installed in either projectors or reflectors designed for HIDs.
Also the color temp of 8k has nothing to do with how hot the bulb is, that's the color temp. 8k will start to have the purplish look.
5k is the whitish look <4k has some yellow too it.

I have "E" code headlight housings (Hella) with HIDs in them, freakn awesome. I would stay away from the "diamond cut lights" with HIDs. Cost me @ $500 to do both hi and low beams. Nice thing though, you can get the housings first and use them with the bulbs they come with, then upgrade to HIDs down the road, if you can't afford to do it all at once.

Re: HID headlight conversion
It's the same process on t/a's meaning you need housings and bulbs, and ballasts if you're doing HIDs. T/A's only need 2 housings and bulbs to replace the h6054 lights, also refered to as 5"x7". A Camaro just takes 4 bulbs and 4"x6" housings. There are housings out there for pretty much any sealed beam headlight, just find out the part number of it and look for kits to replace that number.

just buy the kits off of ebay. 80 bucks for hid that are good and like 40 bucks for smoked housing and like 30 for clear diamond cut. I dont know why yall are spending 500 bucks on hids. my friend orders h.i.d.s all the time for all the people in mansfield. he has them on every vechicle of his for more than two years now.

I'm sorry, you are having issues with this, but I have linked to that many of times, and I just tried it from a few different computers. Here it is one more time
http://www.rallylights.com/hella/165mm_lo.asp
Try copy and pasting instead of clicking on it.
Then find part #H65451:
Set 165mm Rectangular ECE Conversion Headlamps. Two Hi/Lo beam with 60/55w H4 Bulb and two Hi beam with 55w H1 bulbs and adapters
Kit even comes with H4 wiring adapters.

Re: HID headlight conversion
Lets see, I've posted it on TGO numerous times, never had that issue before. I use Firefox at home on 2 different computers, works fine. I have to us IE at work, I checked on 3 different computers there, works fine. I dunno what to tell you guys.
